Doughnuts

Why buy them when you an make them yourself.
A simple basic doughnut recipe that will be a real treat
for breakfast, or to snack on. Roll them in cinnamon and
sugar when your done for a sinful treat. Enjoy!

4 � cups sifted flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 � teaspoons ground nutmeg
� teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
cooking oil
sugar

Sift together flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.
Beat together eggs and 1 cup of sugar until light.
Add butter, milk and vanilla.
Add dry ingredients all at once, stirring till just smooth.
Dough will be soft.
Knead dough lightly on a floured surface.
Roll out dough � inch thick.
Cut with floured doughnut cutter.
Fry a few doughnuts at a time in hot cooking oil (370 degrees), until
golden brown, turning once.
Drain on paper towels.
Roll in sugar and serve, makes about two dozen doughnuts.
